Espresso is finally 100% nature-friendly thanks to the Caffè Borbone ESE pods, good for you and good for the environment.
Every Caffè Borbone ESE pod can in fact be disposed of in the organic waste, while its wrapping can be recycled with paper. Sustainability is a precious asset for us that has always driven our ideas and actions. This is why we were the first company to create a completely compostable filter paper pod, certified by CIC (Consorzio Italiano Compostatori – Italian Composting and Biogas Association), which if disposed of in the organic waste can be used to produce compost, suitable for enriching the soil with essential elements.
But our commitment does not stop here: thanks to the work of our research and development department, we have also achieved a major breakthrough in the packaging: the predominantly paper wrapping (certified by Aticelca, the association of Italian paper technicians) allows for recycling with paper. The bag and the cardboard packaging are also designed to be increasingly sustainable: they are FSC® certified, a mark of responsible forest management.

Caffè Borbone has launched a new line of biopolymer compostable capsules, with filter paper tops for an even more natural coffee extraction. The new Don Carlo compostable capsules are the perfect choice for those who want to enjoy an espresso as good as at the bar, but with a truly green soul.
As of today, you can throw your capsule in the organic waste container without worrying about emptying out the coffee inside. The result? An excellent compost to fertilise the soil.
The compostability of the capsule is guaranteed by CIC (Consorzio Italiano Compostatori, Italian Composting and Biogas Association), while the external packaging bears the FSC® mark, related to responsible forest management.
