We lend a hand to all.
Sustainability is also looking after people and the land
MWANYI project
For us it’s crucial to look after those at the start of the supply chain.
MWANYI, Ugandan for “coffee”, is a five-year project that was launched in 2022 with the aim of developing agricultural skills and creating financial inclusion pathways for young people and women in Uganda with a view to improving the quality of the crops, driving the development of small local producers, supporting young entrepreneurs and discouraging rural depopulation.
Caffè del Birbantello
We believe in the future generations and care deeply about our local area.
That is why in 2022 we launched the “Caffè del Birbantello” project, an initiative born in Naples and then extended to the rest of Italy which, through the support of local NPOs, aims to combat youth exclusion, marginalisation and social fragility. The children and adolescents involved in the project are asked to produce a drawing that celebrates their “everyday heroes”: a selection of these masterpieces will be used to create a special edition series of Caffè Borbone packaging.
Too Good To Go
Good coffee should never go to waste and Too Good To Go agrees with us.
Thanks to Too Good To Go, we give our customers the chance to buy our top-quality products at great-value prices – products which, though perfectly suitable for consumption, for one reason or another otherwise risk remaining on the shelf and going to waste. Because as well as tasting extraordinary, every cup of our coffee must also have a positive impact on the environment and people.
Plastic Free
Caffè Borbone supports voluntary non-profit organisation Plastic Free during environmental clean-up initiatives and awareness-raising events in schools.
Thanks to this partnership, in 2023 we achieved the following results:
- 1436 kg of plastic and waste removed
- 138 volunteers involved in the initiative
Partnership with Federico II University of Naples
For us, sustainability is also a question of education.
Caffè Borbone has signed an important agreement with the Department of Agricultural Science of Federico II University of Naples for the Sustainable Food System master’s degree, launched to train sustainability managers of the future and plug the occupational gap in a priority sector for Italy which will enable the sustainable development of the coffee supply chain.
