To really understand Caffè Borbone, we need to travel back in time to the late 1700s, when Naples was the first city in Italy, the second in Europe and the fifth in the world. The Kingdom of Naples was a hub of innovation, with indoor running water and one of the first sewer systems.
Coffee had already been available for some time, but it was during this period that the people of Naples really made it their own, working to improve its quality and embracing the drink as a symbol of the city. In a short time, the streets were filled with coffeehouses, and by the 19th century they were firmly established as the most popular meeting places. The famous Caffè Gambrinus still operates today, offering a glimpse of old Naples in the heart of the city.
No como muchas empresas
Para entender quién es Caffè Borbone hacemos un viaje en el tiempo y regresamos al Nápoles de la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII, la que fue la primera ciudad de Italia, la segunda de Europa y la quinta del mundo; la primera en el mundo en tener agua corriente en las casas y el sistema de alcantarillado, el Nápoles del reino de los Borbones. Fue precisamente en este periodo histórico cuando Nápoles adoptó el café, que había llegado a la ciudad hacía tiempo, y lo «»hizo suyo»» contribuyendo no solo a mejorarlo a nivel cualitativo, sino convirtiéndolo también en un símbolo de la ciudad reconocido a nivel mundial y una auténtica herramienta para socializar.
En poco tiempo, las calles de la ciudad se llenaron de “kaffehaus” (cafeterías), auténticos centros culturales del siglo XIX, entre los cuales abrió sus puertas el famoso Caffè Gambrinus que conserva aún hoy el encanto del Nápoles de antaño.
