Compostable pods
Are you familiar with our pods that can be disposed of in organic waste and with recyclable paper wrapping?
Here’s a little titbit for you. Did you know we were the first company to make a completely compostable paper filter pod? Certified by CIC (Consorzio Italiano Compostatori – Italian Composting and Biogas Association), if it is disposed with food waste it can be used to produce compost, enriching the soil with essential elements.
Compostable capsules compatible with Lavazza®* A Modo Mio®*
Even those who prefer it in capsules can now enjoy coffee in a compostable capsule.
Our Don Carlo range of biopolymer compostable capsules come with filter paper tops for even more natural coffee extraction. What’s more, Don Carlo Gold Blend capsules, until recently also produced in a plastic version, are now exclusively compostable. The result? A coffee that is as delicious as ever but now even more environmentally friendly.

Pods
Every Caffè Borbone pod can be disposed of directly in your food waste, just as it is, after using. The pod has CIC (Consorzio Italiano Compostatori – Italian Composting and Biogas Association) certification, a quality guarantee based on the principle of suitability for composting.
Single-serving sachet
Single-serving sachets of Caffè Borbone pods can be disposed of with paper waste, while the sachets that contain capsules can go in the plastic recycling, just like ground coffee bags.
Compatible capsules
Before correctly disposing of capsules (depending on the material from which they are made, such as plastic or aluminium) always remember to remove the coffee from inside and throw it away with your food waste. Want an idea? You can also use it as a natural fertiliser on your plants!
Compatible, compostable capsules.
Don Carlo capsules, compatible with the Lavazza® A Modo Mio®* system, are made of a special highly biodegradable biopolymer and a filter paper top and can therefore be disposed of with food waste.
External carton
The external cartons of all our products can be disposed of with paper recycling. In fact, the paper and card we use for our external packaging are FSC certified, guaranteeing that at least 70% of the materials are sourced from responsibly managed forests or recycled.
Eco accessories kit
The kit is made up of recyclable paper cups and birch wood stirrers, which are biodegradable and can be disposed of with food waste.
