Il Caffè del Birbantello
Il Caffè del Birbantello is a social project promoted by Caffè Borbone, involving primary schools throughout Italy in a creative and educational journey through dedicated workshops held during civic education classes.
Children, guided by their teachers, are invited to reflect on topics of civic and social value.
The ideas that emerge in the classroom are transformed into drawings, which will become the graphics for special coffee packaging.
The project began in 2022 with the company’s desire to give back to the community, contribute to the development of conscious citizens, and provide concrete support to children in areas at high risk of school dropout.
Today, with the 2025 edition, the initiative officially becomes part of the educational curriculum of the participating schools: it evolves into a true educational path, aligned with Law 92/2019, which mandates at least 33 hours per year of civic education in all grades.
The theme chosen for the new edition, in continuity with last year’s journey focused on “everyday heroes,” is the figure of the teacher: a fundamental presence in the lives of children, going beyond the purely educational role.
The teacher is a daily point of reference, a community builder, and an authentic model of civic engagement, capable of transmitting values, sparking passions, and guiding children in their growth.
Starting in September, the project will involve five primary schools in major Italian cities, often located in neighborhoods with high social complexity:
Istituto Ozanam (Naples),
Istituto Comprensivo Statale G. Mazzini–G. Modugno (Bari),
Istituto Comprensivo Amerigo Vespucci (Florence),
Istituto Comprensivo A. Mazzi (Bergamo), and
Istituto Comprensivo Ardigò (Padua).
The schools were selected in collaboration with Withub, a partner with extensive experience in educational projects.
