PROGRAMMES IN INDIA AND VIETNAM

From the origin, a project that looks to the future

In India and Vietnam, Caffè Borbone works alongside ofi to promote regenerative agriculture practices, improve productivity, and help reduce emissions associated with coffee cultivation. This initiative involves experimenting with new practices and engaging farming communities to strengthen the supply chain’s resilience to climate challenges.

Change begins with farming

Coffee cultivation accounts for a significant portion of the emissions associated with the supply chain. This is why Caffè Borbone is working with ofi in coffee-producing regions, supporting farmers as they experiment with more efficient agricultural practices that have a lower carbon footprint.

The project involves the province of Gia Lai in Vietnam and the Indian states of Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, with initiatives focused on soil management, fertiliser use, and the adoption of more sustainable agricultural practices.

This project is part of our commitment to climate action and contributes to our Scope 3 emissions reduction targets (FLAG), validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi): -30.3% by 2030 and -72% by 2050.

REDUCTION IN EMISSIONS BY 2030

The target relates to emissions associated with approximately 6,000 metric tonnes of annual coffee supply.

Expertise, data, and agricultural practices

Through agronomic training, the project supports farmers in adopting more efficient practices and using resources responsibly. For example, it focuses on soil management and fertiliser use, guiding farmers toward practices that can help reduce emissions. Data collection and analysis allow us to measure progress and guide actions throughout the supply chain.

TRAINING IS PART OF CHANGE

For us, building a stronger supply chain also means investing in people. Through the Mwanyi project in Uganda, we work alongside local communities, with a special focus on women and young people, by providing training, skill development, and new opportunities.

EVERY COMMITMENT REQUIRES TRANSPARENCY

This is why we make our governance documents, sustainability reports, ratings, certifications, goals, and achievements available to everyone.
